Number of Brits abroad

News stories covering the movement of people across Europe can be seen on a regular basis. Usually this concerns people moving or trying to move to the UK. But what about Brits leaving the UK and to which countries are they moving to?
The map gives an interesting insight into the most popular areas. There are no surprises in that Spain and France still have the most number of ex Pats living there but in both instance they are far less popular than a decade ago.
The number of British and Irish citizens living in Hungary remains relatively small at 5,000 but non the less this is an increasing number – people attracted by exceptional value for money – the Pound has appreciated against the Hungarian Forint by 25 % over the last 18 months.
Taking into account other factors such as fantastic food and vine, general cleanliness, low crime rates and a favourable climate – double the number of sunshine hours and half the rainfall of home it is little wonder Hungary is proving popular for people seeking a change of lifestyle – either on a permanent basis or as a holiday destination.
