Activities

ban3Since Hungary is land locked Lake Balaton is affectionately known as “The Hungarian Sea”

It is also the Hungarian playground where people visit throughout the year to enjoy their hobby or pastime in beautiful surroundings.

The cost of living in Hungary is approx. 60% lower than the UK & Ireland so enjoying a particular hobby tends to be equally inexpensive.

There are activities on offer for all age groups. Water sports in the warm, shallow and clean waters of Balaton are particular popular. Sailing, water skiing, canoeing and wind surfing in the summer months and ice skating during winter.

Golf courses, horse riding centres, hundreds of fishing lakes, hunting areas, a skiing area just north of the lake and over 300 thermal health spas are all available.

Cycling routes are well signposted with bike hire centres in most lakeside towns. Enjoy the 144 mile cycle track around the entire shore of the lake.

For the nature lovers the walks around Balaton on un crowded trails which provide panoramic views of the glistening blue lake and valleys of the national park are second to none. Hungary is a bird watchers paradise with a high number of migratory birds visiting in the Spring and Autumn months

For the more adventurous specialised activities are catered for such as Paragliding and Motocross. Every August Hungary hosts the F1 race at Hungoring on the outskirts of Budapest.

Hungary proves to be popular for motorcyclists who enjoy the quiet sweeping roads through beautiful countryside.

Children are equally well catered for with water parks, adventure playgrounds, go kart tracks and BMX trails
